Installing seals and gaskets on the garage door is particularly easy.  First, determine the exact measurements.  Record the width of the garage door by running a measuring tape at the bottom of the garage door.  Add one-half inch for each side in case future adjustments are needed.  Also, measure the width needed to prepare for the new gasket if a new replacement is needed.

Then have a sample of the garage door gasket by cutting a small portion to present to the hardware store.  Give this sample to the store assistants along with all the recorded measurements.  This will help in finding the right replacement gasket for the garage door.  It will be wise not to remove the seal on the gasket or the bracket until the proper replacement is found.  If the gasket can not be easily found, then perhaps the make and model of the garage door requires specific gasket.  With this particular problem, one needs to examine the exact printed label on the garage door.

With the new gasket already purchased, it is ready to replace the old one.  Remove the bracket completely using a screwdriver and a pry bar.  Be careful not to incur damage on the door while pulling off the screws.  Push the new gasket into the bracket sleeve by sliding it.  Give an allowance of one inch towards the outer edge of the door.  Fasten the new gasket to the garage door on the bottom part.  A handsaw or a utility knife may be used in trimming extended length.

It is now time to test the new gasket’s fitness to the garage door.  Close the door completely and check afterwards if the new gasket is able to  bar any unwanted materials completely  from passing through the meeting point between the bottom of the door and garage floor.  A good test is by using a flashlight and see if light can penetrate under the door.  It may need the assistant who can help to check at the other side of garage door.

In the same way, garage door seals are easy to install.  Find a replacement that fits exactly with your garage door.  Remove the old rubber seal also by sliding through the channel and do the same when inserting the new one. Learning how to install these gadgets without asking assistance, needless to say, is very important and would make things easier for you in the long run.
